How long does it take for a piece of mail to get from upstate New York to Southern New Jersey?

If the mail was sent from Upstate New York on Friday, and it's now Monday, when should we expect this mail to arrive to South Jersey? A regular envelope, nothing fancy. Thanks for your answers! How long does it take for a piece of mail to get from upstate New York to Southern New Jersey?

one day to six years or more
Regular letter mail should arrive in three business days, with Saturday being a business day for the US mail. Assuming the letter was picked up by the Postal Service on Friday, it should normally arrive pretty much anywhere in the United States on Tuesday.

If the letter sat in the mailbox until Monday (most street mailboxes aren't emptied on weekends), the letter may not arrive until Thursday.
Two days seems right, but Sunday does not count. If it was mailed before the last pick-up on Friday, expect it Monday or Tuesday. If it was mailed after the last pick-up from somewhere with no Saturday pick-ups, do not expect it before Wednesday.
Was it dropped at the Post Office on Friday morning or evening?

If left after 3pm at the office, consider that Saturday.

If dropped in the box on the road after noon, consider that Saturday.

Since those mail takes 2 to 9 days (as it not guaranteed) Tuesday is the 2nd business day from Saturday. Look for it to arrive tomorrow on 5/4/2010. The latest it should arrive is Wednesday 5/12/2010. After that, it is most likely lost.

If the sender did not put enough postage, its going to be returned proving there was a return address and that is going to delay it.
