How did you get your baby to eat from the bottle and how long did it take you? I really do not want to have to breastfeed in public or even a restroom. I know that all babies are different and that it's best for someone else close to you to try, but some advice would really help. ThanksHow did you get your breastfed baby to eat from the bottle and how long did it take you?
Some babies manage fine, but some have something known as 'nipple confusion' and will always struggle. The mouth action required to take milk from a nipple and a teat are totally different. A teat flows constantly, and this can sometimes overwhelm a baby. You can by teats with different flow rates, so start of with the slowest one. Just keep practicing.
But never be afraid to breastfeed in public. Your baby is a human being, and has the right to eat just like everyone else. How did you get your breastfed baby to eat from the bottle and how long did it take you?
none of these answers helped me bc all i asked for were techniques. everything i was told I already knew.

I introduced my son to the bottle at 6 weeks, just to see what would happen, and he took it right away.
If she takes a soothie pacifier, you could try a soothie bottle. I personally didn't like them as much because they were wider and seemed like they'd allow for more air to get in, and it was a little more awkward to hold. But the nipples are the same as the pacifier so it should be an easy transition. I just used the bottles that came with my Medela pump and they worked great.
You might actually have to try letting someone else feed her from a bottle while you're not in the same room. She can smell your breastmilk inside your breasts and will prefer it straight from the tap if she thinks she can get it :)
Go to a La Leche League meeting. They will give you many suggestions and other new moms will be there to share what worked for them. It is a great social experience too. I used to love going.
I didn't hafta get them to eat from a bottle, they just started too when i started using a bottle (when they were about a month old). My fiance feeds my twins one bottle of breastmilk a day, and they took to it right away.
My older son was 4 weeks old when we started with him and he also took too it right away.
Although i didn't have trouble with my kids eating from a bottle, i did babysit a baby who was breastfed and i had to feed him a bottle and believe me it wasn't easy getting him to take it (they started trying when he was about 3 months old) and it wasn't til he was 5 months old or so that i finally got him to take a bottle from me. I tried lots of different things, and one that worked was distraction (his older sis would do funny things or my younger sis would) and he would eat while being entertained. Another thing that worked was rubbing his cheek while he ate, that seemed to calm him down and then he would eat. He wasn't very good about taking a bottle til he was 8 or 9 months old, before that it was alot of work trying to get him to finish just one bottle.
Another thing u can try is a few different kinds of bottles, some breastfed babies take to one kind of bottle when they won't have anything to do with another.
Hope this helps and good luck, :D
I started both right away.
I tried Tommee Tippee (Baby's R Us exclusive) and my 9 week old loves it. No problem at all. I think we had it in one day.
Personally I feel that the biggest issue is the texture and temperature of the synthetic nipple on the baby's tongue. Baby is used to the fold and warmth of mom's breast.. the ';less warm'; plastic nipple is not comforting therefore baby will not realize milk is being offered. You have to make it feel as natural in baby's mouth as possible.
Also I read about another brand that is really expensive it is called Adiri Natural Nurser ... I have heard that it has been successful with helping baby with latching on to the synthetic nipple and back to breast with little problem http://www.diapers.com/Product/ProductDe鈥?/a>
It took us a little practice. One thing I found that really helped was to hold her in the same position as I would hold her while breastfeeding her. My husband would try to give her a bottle while she was laying in his lap or on the couch next to him and she had no interest. I held her in the football or cradle hold like when I fed her and no problems. I suggested he try a different position and she took the bottle from him as well.
We use Breastflow bottles and I think that might help as well. The nipple is really wide and presses against their cheeks just like the breast does. That seems to help too.
Hope this helps.
